about jesse

After a childhood spent exploring the redwoods of Northern California, Jesse ventured out to Kansas City Art Institute to acquire his Bachelor in Fine Arts, and then to Alfred State School of Ceramics Arts to complete a Masters degree.

This strong artistic background, coupled with experience teaching at Parsons School of Design in New York, have led Jesse to first consider the concept of the pieces he creates, as opposed to their function. Finding the point where fine art and product design meet is what makes Jesse tick – a product must respect its material and the history of its form, while always having something new to say.

Applying the same process of creation to his work with latitude – the design studio he founded with his wife, Julie, in Hong Kong – Jesse’s wealth of knowledge is strengthened by his years of experience working with a wide range of materials. From wood and metal to glass and ceramics, Jesse is passionate about making sense of a product’s craft and construction.
